Talking Over Each Other

Remote & Hybrid
Trigger / When to Use

Voices colliding on the call; no turn-taking cues

Quick Response

I'm getting a lot of voices at once - let's switch to raised hands. [Name], you're first; [Name], you're up next.

Detailed Tips
  • Set the norm: raise-hand button or "me" in chat, no surprise interjections
  • Announce the next speaker before the current one finishes
  • Signal handoffs explicitly: "[Name], the floor is yours"
  • Model finishing cleanly: pause, breathe, confirm you're done before handing off
Prevention

Name it upfront: calls kill natural turn-taking, so we'll queue speakers - slow but fair
