Silent Disagreement

Safety & Power
Trigger / When to Use

Heads nodding, but the room doesn't mean yes

Quick Response

Before we lock this in: fist-to-five - show me how confident you are in this decision. Anything under three, I want to hear the concern.

Detailed Tips
  • Never read silence as agreement - check with written or anonymous input
  • Normalize dissent: "If you're not 100% in, now is the time"
  • Read anonymous concerns aloud so they're owned by the group
  • If reservations surface, pause: "What would make this feel solid?"
Prevention

Frame constructive disagreement as a strength early; avoid vague "does everyone agree?"
